As a Korra hater, all I have to say is, she wouldn’t do this without a reason. And I think people are right. Humans started exploiting spirit energy to dangerous levels and she had no choice but to destroy it which probably caused other things to happen as well.

The pipes she destroyed looks like they were channeling the spirit world energy like electricity. So maybe she was trying to stop the city from abusing the spirits energy and it backfired

People watching this don’t understand the concept of subverting expectations … like yes it looks bad because that’s the point … the series is showing bits and pieces of events that will culminate to what really happened to provide better context to why Korra did what she did. Can’t wait for Seven Havens to further explains why she did what she did. People want her to be the villain so bad. And if she really ends up being the villain then so be it, but until then it’s too early to just jump to conclusions.

It was her responsibility to keep balance between the spirits and humans, because she is LAZY and STUBBORN she left the portal open. I can bet my life that human started to abuse spirit energy and the spirits because of her lack of responsibility and what is her response blow it up. Korra is the worst hands down.

Was she really wrong to do so? The Avatar is supposed to bring balance. Maybe cutting the evils of humanity down by removing the population is what can bring back Balance and peace. Wan originally seals the spirits away to protect the spirits from the humans.
