Sounds like they’re only going to take this seriously when they’re dealing with sepsis. It’s outrageous

Oh no mate, this is so unfair. I don’t know how you are managing to deal with the constant set backs. I’m rooting for you to get some positive steps happening.

Mate still go. My surgery last month I had the flu and my abscess was infected a ridiculous amount. 12/10 pain, incontinence the lot. It wasn’t a surgery to close the fistula, rather to drain it all, but still go and they might drain it for you instead. At least that will be something. Sending you my best wishes 🙏🏻

Try see if they will admit you and do IV antibiotics to try get it under control for surgery. 48 hours on IV antibiotics should be a reasonable time frame to make a difference.

I hope you’re on antibiotics! This can go septic very easily.

You need admitted and given iv antibiotics. I’ve got a staph infection but if your on antibiotics or have been and it’s resistant you might have MRSA and perianal sepsis. It’s hell isn’t it! I’m 8 weeks post op with reoccurring opening and closing of surgical site it’s draining literally

I know it’s not the same but when my son had tonsillitis they said they wouldn’t do the surgery if he had it, he always had it, the day came yes he had it I still went and they said it was fine and did it anyway. So maybe just go at least they can see what it’s like when it’s irrupted at it’s worst they know what they’re dealing with and how it affects you. My advice go and when the consultant sees it apologise say but there’s hardly a day when it’s not like this, it’s virtually impossible for it to be healthy GO the worse he can say is we’ll reschedule or may just go for it 50/50 they can do the op and put you on antibiotics good luck either way

your gp should send you to sdec or call your colorectal team.
I always call the surgeons secretary in an emergency and they squeeze me in.

Definitely still go to yr surgery , they will be able to drain maybe, do something at least. its ridiculous that you are repeatedly being left to go though this over and over . Feel for ya sending healing vibes [Victory]

Dr Chronic Threads 🇬🇧🇪🇺 :
Infection doesn't mean surgery would definitely be cancelled, even if they just go in a clean it out properly so the original surgery can go ahead at a later date, and hopefully reduce the risk of abscesses occurring before then
