@michaelamushelelo: My fellow Namibians, after receiving several complaints from concerned residents about a dumping site near Havana Primary School in the Samora Machel Constituency, I decided to personally visit the area today. WHAT I WITNESSED IS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING, UNACCEPTABLE AND DEHUMANIZING! How can the City of Windhoek continue using an area where human beings live, and where innocent children attend school, as a dumping ground? OUR PEOPLE ARE HUMAN BEINGS, NOT GARBAGE! THEIR COMMUNITIES ARE NOT LANDFILLS! It is an insult to human dignity that residents must endure such conditions while the very institution responsible for maintaining a clean and healthy environment continues to neglect their surroundings. I am therefore issuing the following demands to the City of Windhoek: 1. IMMEDIATE CESSATION: Effective today, this area must no longer be used as a dumping site. 2. COMPLETE REHABILITATION: The City must undertake to clean, rehabilitate and transform this area into a proper community playground where our children can play in a safe and dignified environment. 3. ACCOUNTABILITY: The City must publicly explain why waste has been dumped near residential homes and a primary school, and provide a clear rehabilitation timeline. Let me make myself absolutely clear! IF THE CITY OF WINDHOEK CONTINUES TO TREAT OUR COMMUNITIES AS DUMPING GROUNDS, WE SHALL MOBILIZE RESIDENTS AND TAKE OUR PROTEST DIRECTLY TO THE CITY’S OFFICES ACROSS WINDHOEK! We will come Dump the Waste in front of your offices. The days of treating Poor communities as though they are inhabited by Second-Class citizens must come to an end. POVERTY DOES NOT CANCEL HUMAN DIGNITY! The children of Havana deserve playgrounds, not dumping grounds. They deserve fresh air, not the stench of waste. They deserve a childhood surrounded by opportunities, not mountains of garbage. WE DEMAND ACTION, NOT EXCUSES!
