TWO $10,000 BONDS. ONE MISSED COURT DATE. BOTH FORFEITED. Mohamed Ibrahim Abdi, 27, missed court October 19 on two Hennepin County felony gun cases. The court ordered both $10,000 appearance bonds forfeited and issued bench warrants. Minneapolis police booked him into jail October 23. According to one complaint, an informant told police Abdi had displayed a firearm equipped with a switch. On August 4, 2025, officers stopped him at a Minneapolis convenience store and allegedly found a loaded Glock 19 with a switch in his pocket. The device converts a semi-automatic firearm into a fully automatic weapon. The complaint says a 2015 juvenile adjudication for attempted simple robbery prohibits him from possessing firearms or ammunition. He is charged with possessing a machine gun or conversion device and possessing a firearm as an ineligible person. He pleaded not guilty and demanded a jury trial. The second case concerns July 19, 2025. According to that complaint, his sister said an argument escalated until they spat on each other. She alleged he jumped on her and pointed a pistol at her and others in the home. Officers arrived after he left and recovered an unspent 9mm round. He is charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and possessing a firearm as an ineligible person. After posting bonds in 2025, his release was revoked in January following a violation report. He missed court in March, then was released with electronic home monitoring and other conditions. Another violation report led to revocation in June. In July, he was released with no money required, with conditions including monitoring and treatment. In September, corrections alleged he failed to comply with both. His release was revoked a third time. He then missed court October 19, triggering both bond forfeitures. As of October 25, he remains in custody. The roster lists $200,000 bail in the machine gun case. His next hearing in both cases is October 26 at 1:30 p.m. Presumed innocent until proven guilty. Sources: Hennepin County Jail Roster and MCRO, including criminal complaints.
