@madaboutmoneyofficial: I haven’t had a “proper” wash since Sunday. Do I care? Nope! I value my safety and dignity more than a wash sometimes. #disabled #disability #washing #SelfCare #pip
Tena wipes are the goat! Do my whole body with them

why dont you ask your la for a care needs assessment thst way if and when your husband is away they can send in a carer obviously there would be a care contribution but it might help

I hear every word you say and relate very much..This is what the public who moan ‘ Oh there nothing wrong with her, why she claiming pip, I’m paying for her to go out to the park/shop etc.. blah blah blah)… they haven’t seen these days, days you can’t leave the house, can’t wash can’t dress, can’t cook or do any of it safely and properly.. they don’t see the crying with fatigue and pain.. the hobbling around to get to the toilet.. the anxiety the depression… that you may have not been out in weeks…you can only wash with body wipes and dry shampoo, sometimes for a week two weeks, and hair maybe even longer…. My therapist asked me yesterday what I do for self care…I replied. I don’t, I don’t do any self care, self care is just about getting dressed in easy to put on clothes mostly.... occasionally when I’m having a ‘good spell’ I can shower, dress and make myself semi presentable.. but it takes hours and hours..if I have an appointment I can’t do it all in one day. Then after it all I may drop for days.. and now Winter is here and it’s cold and wet and windy.. life will get worse. Pain fatigue , everything will get worse.

When I’m home alone I strip wash cuz I’m too scared to get in the shower just incase I have a seizure, or I forget to wash due to brain damage even though I’ve got a fall alarm I forget to wear it 🤦🏽♀️I dread my son finding me naked as he’s my carer even though he works full time

I just came across your post and I relate to you. I’ve not applied for pip because I just think they won’t believe me n I’ll be back to square one. Before my disability got really bad I showered twice a day n washed my hair every day twice sometimes. It was lovely to hear you voicing this,not that you have a deliberating disability. I’d love to listen to your pop cast.

You and me both babe. Wet wipes washes are my saving grace and keep me clean and not smelly - which means that you have no stench 😘 Also, Mitchem’s is the best!

I know what you mean - I have the same issue with eating after having my top jaw removed because of cancer. I try not to eat unless my wife is in the house…

Yep...If I've managed to get up, and get dressed...be grateful, especially if I manage to go out.

I hear this! I only get carers to wash me twice a week because any more would make me EXHAUSTED! I wouldn’t be able to manage it. Crashing now and worried as it’s shower day tomorrow 🫠🩷
