If you've seen the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, they do great. Midge is upperclass and wears that stereotypical stuff. Susie can't afford that, her clothes reflect that. Susie's also a great reminder that fashions do change, but the past isn't as foreign and cartoonish as we think.

I really dislike when people quote the Marilyn Monroe was a size 12 because they don't seem to have an understanding of vintage sizing. I'm a curvy girl myself and I get it, but Marilyn was very very petite. A size 12 in vintage sizing commonly a 26-in waist And it needs to stop being used as a reason to say there were curvy people in the mid-century. they're definitely were! But that's not the example you want
