A few days ago, Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi, the 34th descendant of the Prophet ﷺ visited Scotland during his UK Dhikr Tour 😍 @shaykhalyaqoubi @theshadhilifoundation #shaykhyaqoubi #islamicevents #muslim #muslimah #prophetemuhammad ﷺ The Prophet ﷺ repeatedly instructed his Ummah to love, respect, and honour his blessed family (Ahl al-Bayt). In Sahih Muslim (2408), he said: “I am leaving among you two weighty things: the Book of Allah… and my Ahl al-Bayt. I remind you by Allah concerning my Ahl al-Bayt.” This wasn’t a passing remark, it was a heartfelt reminder that the Prophet ﷺ repeated, showing just how important it is for Muslims to treat his family with love and respect. That said, respect for this scholar is not based solely on his noble lineage. Even if he were not from the family of the Prophet ﷺ, he would still be recognised as one of the most accomplished scholars of our time. He possesses an extraordinary depth of knowledge across numerous Islamic sciences, earned through decades of rigorous study, teaching, and service to the religion. From a young age, he was nurtured in a household of scholarship and studied the foundational and advanced Islamic sciences under his father, Shaykh Sayyid Ibrahim al-Yaqoubi, one of the foremost scholars of the 20th century. Through this traditional chain of learning, he inherited not only knowledge but also the responsibility of preserving and conveying the sacred Islamic tradition with precision, wisdom, and balance. So whether one honours him because he is from the blessed household of the Prophet ﷺ, or because of his immense scholarship, teaching, and lifelong service to Islam, he is deserving of respect from every Muslim.
