To everyone saying, “Islam did it, Islam teaches it” grow tf up. The Taliban government was responsible for destroying the Buddhas of Bamiyan. Blaming an entire religion for the actions of a specific regime is just ignorant. The real tragedy is that Afghanistan’s people were suffering, yet international attention and resources were being directed toward preserving ancient statues rather than adequately addressing the suffering of the people themselves. It’s infuriating to see a monument receive so much attention while human lives and the country’s future are at stake. You can condemn the Taliban’s actions without turning it into an excuse to demonize an entire religion. Criticize the people responsible, not millions of innocent Muslims who had nothing to do with it.
