“Walking Taller” Nina had always dreamed of being a model—graceful, tall, elegant like the ones on the runway. But at just over five feet tall, she was often told she was “too petite” for the fashion world. Still, she practiced every day: chin up, shoulders back, walking imaginary runways down the hallway, the garden path, even the narrow strip of tiles in the kitchen. One cloudy afternoon, wearing her mother’s old heels and a silky scarf tied like a sash. She strutted across the kitchen tiles, channeling every ounce of confidence she could. Step, pivot, pose. The fridge hummed, the faucet dripped, and then— Her head bumped the hanging light. “What the—?” Nina blinked. She was… taller. Just a bit. Her heels hadn’t changed, but her legs looked longer. She shook her head, unsure if she was imagining things. She continued walking. Step. Pivot. Pose. Another inch. The kitchen ceiling felt closer. Her reflection in the microwave door revealed a longer neck, sharper lines, limbs that stretched just a bit farther. Every confident stride seemed to feed something magical. Her muscles firmed, her back straightened, and her silhouette lengthened like a painting expanding its frame. By the time she reached the end of the tiles, she stood nearly seven feet tall. She stopped, stunned. Then she smiled. Maybe no one believed in kitchen catwalks. But today, in her socks and scarf, she had walked herself into the future she always imagined—one step at a time.
