Because in almost all cases, people don’t get paid proportionally to the amount of profit they’ll generate and the payment they will get is often well below what would be needed to live a life that isn’t centred specifically around work. (Enough to go on holidays, have hobbies that cost money, not require dual incomes in one household, afford all medical necessities both physical and mental). If something requires over 50% of the time you’re awake and does not enable what remains, to be lived in a healthy and content way, it would be insane to take that seriously. It’s not a generational thing, it’s a privilege thing and Gen Z have entered a world that is so expensive that they don’t have the opportunity to get as comfortable as us so of course they think it’s stupid, because it is.
