The truth is, the way Jarvis spoke to Peller about this issue was irritating and, honestly, quite disgusting to me. Why marry someone older than you if you already know that you and your family are not going to respect him because of his age? Marriage is supposed to be about love, respect, and understanding, not making someone feel less of a man because of the age difference. My brother and I grew up in our elder sister's husband's house, and we called him Daddy. We saw him as our father, and even until the day he died last year, I still called him Daddy. So, what's wrong with a husband saying, "I'm a father to your younger sister"? Why should that statement be a problem? To me, it should even be a thing of joy that your husband has a good relationship with your family and is willing to take on that fatherly role.
