Jae low-key probably saved karthik and the other white Lotus members lives because they were gonna be executed until Jae jumped on karthik and said he was under arrest. And they don’t know that Daemin is a member of White Lotus and that Pavi is the second avatar Jae did not reveal that. So him and Daemin probably come up with a plan to get the other white Lotus members out.

I like that honestly, because in the earlier eps when karthik and Jae had that talk in the cafeteria, Jae was conflicted from the action karthik used to apprehend the guy who attacked kayoko. And he basically told Jae that sometimes you have to go against your own morals for the greater good. So Jae lying here is him being fully for the cause. Sometimes you have to do the “wrong” thing for the right thing
