happened to me too, I saw the confirmation picture and was like 'that's not my house'. turns out next street over has a similar name (think grass street Vs grass garden street) and on the same house number as mine I found it. last owner had died and no one lived there, thrown behind the gate where I couldn't reach

i worked for australia post in the customer service department telephone line (most horrific job ever by the way. if you take nothing from this even when you’re angry annoyed or frustrated please treat customer service people better it’s not their fault you sent the parcel from townsville on christmas eve at 4pm and it didn’t make it to perth—about a 62hour drive nonstop—and delivered in regular mail—so by road—by christmas morning and now i’ve completely ruined christmas and i must fix it immediately!—the store closed at 3pm since it was christmas eve and had been advertising that since october and had a sign on the post box they dropped it in) anyways it was the number one rule (on the recorded line in the post office where they weren’t screen and voice recorded different story) to not tell the recipient the location it was delivered to because there’s been cases of people walking up to said door to ask (usually not nicely because their parcels already missing and they’re annoyed) for their parcel and the person they’d essentially accused of stealing their parcel doing or saying not so kind things and slamming the door in their face because of it…and we don’t have guns like yall do so i don’t even remotely doubt that’s why. because then that company’s mishap would put you in danger of literally death at least ours is only a verbal bashing or at most a black eye. we can see on our end where it is and the postie will go and try get it back and go from there (if it was delivered wrong if it was addressed wrong that’s on the sender and you got to take it up with them but we can’t tell you what the address it was labeled with either if it’s not yours for the same reason)

I tried being a mail carrier for about a year--quit for money stuff I actually got good at it-but my second day i got confused at a collection box that was labeled weirdly and sent about 65 families the wrong mail within a 2 block radius.

This has happened several times to me and they’d always deliver it to the same poor woman. We ended up exchanging numbers so she could tell me when my package was delivered

Considering I have to work with people who are either dyslexic or just straight up can't read while working retail, it doesn't surprise me that my mailman might also not able to read or might be dyslexic.

I had stuff delivered to random side streets. I’ve had packages get the shipping label switched, like someone at ups stole a package from Nintendo, cut the label off and stuck it onto some lady’s order from Ann Taylor loft.

Some delivery companies are starting to include GPS pins to show you where the driver was when they confirmed delivery. Hopefully that solves some issues.

Same thing happened to me. Rhey wouldn’t tell me and tried doing charades. I went searching for it, couldn’t find it, called back and the next person just told me the address 😑

I always get other people’s deliveries because the streets around me are named after the area and my street is named after a month. So I always get the deliveries of the streets with the same house number as mine.

i was once told i could look in their warehouse to see if i could find my package (already pretty outrageous really) drove 40 minutes there, had a look, nothing. Went by the office, he found where they were in 1 minute. (before this i already had hourlong phonecalls about it). Like how are they bad at the one thing they need to do, go from a to b.
