When I finally accepted the reality that he was intentionally hurting/punishing me with silence and cruelty, as hard of a pill that was to swallow - in so doing, I recognized my own mental and emotional strength. I also knew I needed to leave while I still had enough inner strength to do so. When he knew I was leaving, he tried making me feel like I was cold and cruel for leaving him. Me leaving him wasn't cruel. It was just the natural ending of a pattern he created long before he ever met me.
