Ahoy fellow frequent sinus infectionee! (1) according to my allergy specialist, getting the pneumonia vaccine can help reduce the frequency of sinus infections (2) there is a “silent” form of acid reflux where you don’t experience heartburn. In my experience, when I had this kind of reflux, I had more inflammation in my throat, which I think impaired drainage, and resulted in more ear and sinus infections.

When I worked in a call center, I always said they/them/their because people would get mad if you accidentally identified them as the wrong gender on the phone.

It definitely isn’t hard if you go back to a more formal language in communication especially in English where we have less dependency on gender that impacts other parts of grammar. One of the arguments against the altered us of pronouns beyond their original gendered intent is this right here. Pronouns are substitute words for nouns so just use the name of who you are refencibg or one of the gender neutral ones. I rember back to when you’d submit something and the teacher would correct your paper to loosen it up a bit from those repeated use of noun names so it wasn’t so choppy sounding learning to use pronouns and even when you were to reliant on them being taught how to bring back in names so you avoided a whole paper or writing that was all pronouns. We live in a world though where how many kids don’t even know how to conjugate and think pronouns are limited to gender or even know what the word conjugate means. I would have assumed in law names are the go to ober pronouns because of how technical it is.

I say this all the time. If you just focus on using the names of the person, then you’re golden. Using their name is always the most appropriate way to address someone

I do the same exact thing when I’m sick. My Gen X self never realizes it, or chooses to accept it until I just can’t go anymore. Even then, when other people recognize I’m sick I’m like “I’m fine, feeling better today” 😂
