This calculation doesn't really establish that women account for 42–45% of all reported cases. It combines victim estimates with percentages from other data and then treats victims as if they represent unique individuals responsible. Those are different measurements. One person can be linked to multiple cases, and one case can involve multiple people. A 2017 metaanalysis covering 17 samples across 12 countries estimated that women accounted for 11.6% of individuals identified in its survey data. That figure has limitations and doesn't represent every category, but neither does this calculation justify a universal 42–45% estimate.
