The Venmo of mine is of this baby today! A few weeks ago, I was contacted about a painfully skinny puppy wandering alone in the road. I went looking for her, but I never found her. I wondered what happened to her. Where she went. Whether someone picked her up… or whether she was still out there trying to survive. Then today, I got another message. A little dog had been found in the woods around someone’s home. And there she was. 💔 I truly believe this is the same baby I searched for weeks ago. Except this time, I got to her. Her ribs are visible. Her hip bones stick out. Her little body is covered in mange and she scratches constantly trying to find relief from skin that has probably been miserable for a long time. But you know what absolutely breaks my heart? She is SO sweet. After being hungry. After being uncomfortable. After wandering around and surviving however she could… She still trusts people. She still wants affection. Her little tail still wags when someone shows her kindness. 🥺 I don’t know what she ate while she was out there. I don’t know where she slept. I don’t know how many nights she spent alone. But I do know where she’s sleeping now. Somewhere safe. ❤️‍🩹 And now the work begins. Getting weight back on her safely. Treating her skin. Getting her healthy. Vetting her. Showing her that food is going to keep coming and that she doesn’t have to fend for herself anymore. I already have more animals depending on me. Food disappears FAST. Supplies disappear even faster. Vet care adds up. And somehow, another little broken soul always seems to find her way to me. 🙃 I’m one person trying to make a difference for as many as I possibly can but I cannot do this alone.
