He told the dispatcher he had just come home and found one of his younger brothers on the floor with his throat cut. While still on the line, Seth went quiet. Then the dispatcher heard what sounded like a struggle, and the call went completely silent. When deputies arrived, the front door was unlocked. Inside they found 17-year-old Scotty Bass and 16-year-old Sebastian Bass dead, with several weapons nearby. Seth was gone. Outside, the boys’ parents, Christopher and Sarra Bass, rushed back to the house. Only hours earlier, Seth had called Christopher with a series of strange, unsettling questions. As Christopher sat down with a detective to piece together the afternoon, he started to recall things Seth had said in the days before. Some of them took on a very different meaning now. With a statewide alert issued and Seth’s black Toyota Tacoma somewhere on the road, deputies raced to find the one person who could explain what happened inside that house. What Seth told detectives once he was finally sitting across from them left everyone in that room stunned. Seth South has been charged in connection with the deaths of Scotty and Sebastian Bass.
