@interstate_day_dream: Replying to @Casey Powlesland well what’s more efficient the 4900 Massey or 2590 case on the cultivator? #farmtok #fuelefficiency #masseyferguson #caseih #tractors
I haven’t seen a 2wd tractor in a field since the early 90s. Cool

That’s all true until you hit the wet spot or the big hills and the 2 Wheel Dr. falls on its face

The 4wd would use more fuel just driving around being a heavier machine

That’s about 9 gal n hour vs 15 gal n hour for the freedom units

Just curious. why not use the number below that for the 4900? with the higher gear and less rpm? is it because you chose for your specific case where you run at higher rpms?

Damn good use of resources to prove naysayers wrong. But thing that impressed me the most was your use of 2 screens.

We have a 180 hp 4wd on the rippers. We had a trial 240hp which pulled it at half the revs. Ripped 2 km/hr faster and used 8% less fuel. We also notice the slippage percentage comparing 2wd to 4 wd

diesels use less fuel when they run in the power band. a 180 horse motor using 90 percent of that will burn less fuel than a 400 horse motor using 40 percent.

our 4840, pulling 47 ft. 1800rpm. 10,000 hrs on it when we sold it to the neighbor. Did the injectors around 9,000 hrs. Cummins warm the up really well, cool them down well. Lug the shit out of them in our hills. If my memory serves me right around 1,800 rpm is max hp

Standard frame FWA tractors are the most efficient, less wheel slip but not all the unnecessary weight of a 4wd frame.

Empty would burn more fuel spinning 4 wheels than 2 wheels. Plus there’s wet stacking if it’s no “working “. Diesel is best burnt hot and hard

My 2+2 had a hard time with my dump trailer i was wearing the clutch out trying to take off with it, decided to turn it up against all the advice my dad told me because he knew a guy once who turned up a tractor and it blew 🙄 long story short it had more power and burned less fuel doing the same jobs as before and i didnt have to slip the clutch to take off with the dump trailer, bigger isnt always better
