@sleepofmind: I really wish someone had told me this before I bought my first baby sleepwear. A lot of cheap sleepwear is made to look and feel better than it really is. Lower grade cotton gets bleached hard and coated in optical brighteners so it looks whiter. Dyes cover what's left. Some gets wrinkle resistant finishes made with formaldehyde resins, so it still looks crisp after shipping across the world. Not all of that washes out. Formaldehyde finishes are a known skin allergen for some people, and in the U.S. there's no federal limit on formaldehyde in clothing. One study of cotton baby clothes found phthalates, chemicals linked to hormone disruption, that regular washing didn't fully remove. Now picture that against your baby's skin, all night, every night. When I started Sleep of Mind, I learned more about how fabric gets made than I ever expected to. Truthfully, I was horrified. So I made a decision: our fabric would be as clean as I could possibly make it. Here's what that looks like: ❤️ GOTS Certified Organic Cotton ❤️ Boiled in hot water and washed with hydrogen peroxide, which breaks down into water and oxygen ❤️ No chlorine bleach, no dyes, no optical brighteners ❤️ OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, tested for harmful substances including formaldehyde and phthalates Woman owned, mom founder, and designed with sleep specialist expertise.
