I start my lesson with Chicago style dogs and Coca Coal. Next, we dive into a simulation based scenario using excerpts from the reading. Finally, we make modern connections looking at the effects of this book on the food and drug industry. This is for a Chicago History class.

I worked in a nabisco factory… I tend to make my students hate snacks during this unit 😂😳 I share Sinclair then ask if they think things improved, then share my observation and why I hate Oreos and ritz (sorry, I won’t explain so you all can stay ignorant) and… yay….😳 I’m claiming continuity connection for my teaching practice…😬

As another u.s. history teacher what other muckrakers do you have them study? I do Sinclair, Tarbell, and Riis. I’ve never seen another one mentioned on the NYS regents so far since the new exam.
