Last week, I joined the LA community in commemorating three years since October 7th, alongside @StandWithUs and so many other organizations. This is what I shared that night: On October 7th, many of us were jolted into remembering who we are. Even if we’d never set foot in Israel, we felt the attack was happening to us. And then we experienced October 8th. The hate wasn’t spontaneous. It was preplanned, decades in the making. Designed to turn the world against the Jews and the Jewish state. As the war that was forced on us dragged on, many got confused. The country that was attacked became the aggressor. And the same people who refused to call Hamas terrorists now demand we call this a genocide. So let me say it clearly: there is no genocide in Gaza. There is a war Israel did not choose. Is war ugly? Yes. Do innocent civilians deserve our compassion? Yes. Should mistakes be investigated? Absolutely. Does that make it a genocide? No. And repeating a lie doesn’t make it true. This isn’t about whether Israel is perfect. No country is. It’s about a movement that demands you separate yourself from your people, your history, and your land. They say they love Jews, they just hate Zionism. They love us individually, they just don’t want us as a group. But we are a group. We are a people. We are Am Yisrael. Who are they to tell us who we are? Don’t get confused. Don’t internalize their hate. We are a people with an indigenous homeland in the land of Israel. Always have been, always will be. We’ve outlived every tyranny in history and we’ll outlive this one too. Be strong. Be proud. Be Am Yisrael.
