The Abernathy house is proof of that . Designed by the legendary William Cody in 1962 , it was the social and cultural heart of an era . James and Helen Abernathy were patrons of the arts who founded the Palm Springs Civic Art Association right here , hosting benefits , gallery meetings , and unforgettable parties beneath that extraordinary overhanging roof . I was lucky enough to visit my dear friends Eric and Dominic who call it home today, and I can tell you , the spirit of this house has not changed one bit!
