Mine was a 3 and felt like I was dying. Heart palpitations, extreme fatigue- basically bed ridden. Body tremors and what doctors called “panic attacks” when I was really just dying from anemia. Finally got iron infusions last month. Feeling so much better.

Yes, it CAN lead to heart problems for some, but it’s rare unless your ferritin has been chronically low for years. The main issue with low ferritin is it will eventually lead to anemia, which can and will impact your organs. Blanket statements like this just aren’t true, or completely true, and scare people.

I felt like I was dead. Extreme fatigue. Ferritin was a 6. Iron pills never worked for me so I did two iron infusions. I felt amazing two weeks after my 2nd one. Now I’m 5 months out and I’m feeling exhausted again and my hair is falling out in clumps. No one will test me as to WHY my levels are so low and keep going down. It’s frustrating.
