This edit reminds me of my mother and how much I needed her to protect me. I remember people asking why she kept choosing drugs and drinking over her son. I didn’t know how to make sense of any of it. I just wanted my mom to be there. I wish there had been more moments when I felt safe, when I could lean on her instead of wishing things were different. Even now, I struggle with that. I’m older, but part of me is still that child who needed his mother.
