When the President said that we can build tall buildings, he did not mean that we should ignore building regulations or use substandard materials. There are many factors that can lead to the collapse of a building, including the expertise and experience of the fundis involved. Without the necessary skills and experience, a building may fail to meet the required standards. Therefore, the issue is not just about the height of a building, but also about the quality of construction, the materials used, adherence to building regulations, and the expertise of those involved.Even 5 storey buildings collapse if not constructed with necessary expertise. We already have tall buildings in Nairobi, including KICC, which has 27 floors above ground. Other examples include: Global Trade Centre (GTC) Office Tower — 43 floors. Global Trade Centre (GTC) Hotel Tower — 35 floors. Britam Tower — 33 floors. UAP Old Mutual Tower — 33 floors. Prism Tower — approximately 32 floors. Times Tower — approximately 38 floors. Bunge Tower (Parliament Tower) — 26 floors. Constructing tall buildings is possible. What matters most is ensuring that buildings are designed properly, constructed using quality materials, and built in accordance with the required safety standards and regulations.
