@lacroix_goth: It’s really sad. I even think on some level it’s not a matter of falling out of love with their wife. It’s a matter of thinking that they should have that love as well as whatever else they want because their ego is just that big? ##ethanklein##h3##hilaklein##cheating##wifeguy

lukewarm take: the entire invention of "wife guys" is to establish plausible deniability. never once met a wife guy who didn't try to flirt with me.

Chris Rock has a joke where he says that a man is only as faithful as his options. Not applicable to all men, but more than you would think.

This happened with my cousin. He was 325 pounds and he's always been overweight all his life. he had a gas attack and that was his wake up call to get in shape. a year later, he had a 6 pack, smooth skin and was good looking. he had been with his high school sweetheart for 12 years, but gave it all up for a new girl.

the reality is that theres no predictor that means someone wont cheat. we make these tropes for cheaters so we can feel like "isnt it obvuous? they should've known it would happen". The reality is that you just dont know

I think because authentic people don't constantly try to TELL you who they are, they just live that way. It's like the classic "I'm such a nice guy" Psychology wise your identity doesn't need constant reinforcement from others if it's your truth you actually just live life in. People reveal SO much about their shadow side and issues without realizing it

I have a serious question, Why is this seen as such a tragedy or bad behavior if it's the man cheating after glowing up but when women do it they're so called "Out growing" their partners.

and the next part of it is that they discover very brutally that all of their success and fortune is brought to them mostly because of the support and magnetism of the woman in their life, and part of the reason they are even receiving those blessings is because of her. so when they cheat and she's no longer a part of his life, he suddenly loses all of those things that were fueling his ego in the first place.

In my opinion, wife guys make their wife a whole lot of their personality. Right? It's not quite obsession but it can be close. I think they put their wives and their status being married to that particular woman on a pedestal. Then one of a few things are bound to happen. He gets resentful. *Especially* if he's insecure. He starts to feed feelings of inadequacy. And doesn't do the right thing and talk things through or get help or even walk away from the relationship but goes and finds validation elsewhere. Or the woman falls off the pedestal he's put her on in some way. Whether it's due to health reasons or just because everyone is human, it's going to happen. There will be a period of disillusionment for him and then seeking a new source of the high he got from having someone on that pedestal. Or, and I think this probably is the most common, he just flat out gets bored. You can only revolve your personality around very narrow aspects of your life for so long before craving to know something different. Idk, that's my thoughts.

They’re also resentful of the wife because so much of the positive response they receive, is due to how they praise their wives

It’s so common in podcasting and comedy. Tom Segura and Christina P were supposed to be the exception but they’re getting divorced now too.

I’m not surprised anymore and haven’t been for a long time because it’s happened so much. I see a “wife guy” and I’m just waiting for shit to hit the fan. It might take years but it always happens. I don’t trust anyone who’s a “wife guy”
