@thepottymouthguru: Replying to @MamaB You KNOW chasing your partner when they walk away isn’t helping. You’ve probably promised yourself a hundred times that you’re not going to do it again. But then you’re in the middle of an argument, they walk away, and suddenly every part of you wants to follow them and KEEP FUCKING TALKING. 🫠 Here’s what might be happening. Their walking away isn’t just registering as the conversation ending. You might be interpreting it as rejection, abandonment, or proof that your feelings don’t matter. And chasing might be your attempt to get reassurance, feel heard, or make that awful discomfort go away. Sometimes changing a pattern means learning how to tolerate the feelings that show up when you DON’T do the thing you usually do. That means learning to recognize the meaning you’re making, understand the urge driving your behaviour, and practise responding differently. And YES, these are skills you can develop. Because knowing WHY you chase is one thing. Learning HOW to stop chasing, even when every part of you wants to? That’s where meaningful change can happen. ❤️🤟🏻🌿 What’s harder for you: stopping yourself from chasing, or sitting with the feelings that come up when you don’t? #AttachmentStyles #EmotionalRegulation #RelationshipSkills

Sometimes we chase because we want connection. Sometimes because we want to be HEARD. Sometimes because we can’t fucking stand leaving things unresolved. What’s driving it for YOU?

MamaB :
For me when things were left unresolved he would get frustrated and turn to porn which eventually lead to cheating…I know I feel abandoned and misunderstood and definitely fear he’ll turn to his old habits. Some of this used to happened due to old wounds, I’m better because those are much better.

i just want to FIX things! i struggle to not go into fixing mode when someone shares a problem they're having (no matter if it's about me or something else).

A general how to get comfortable with discomfort would be great! Though I feel you have covered this in some of your shame videos.

what stopped the chasing for me... for the most part anyways... was when the pain of chasing outweighed the pain of stepping away for a bit to regulate

@The Pottymouth Guru I feel the need to explain myself (defend) when I’ve hurt my partner, to help them see that I didn’t have bad intentions. I’m hoping that if they can see my side of it they won’t be hurt anymore
