I know this is a joke, but there’s a HUGE difference to my adhd self between someone talking about their book in a tiktok who is being honest that “hey I’m an author talking about my book!” while I’m naturally scrolling, Vs me seeing an ad for a truck or laundry detergent IN THE MIDDLE of a YouTube video that YouTube is FORCING me to watch in order to continue watching the video I ACTUALLY want to see. And I just usually skip past the parts of a video in which the creator is doing a “sponsored by” section because that doesn’t interest me, but I know they are just doing it to get paid and that doesn’t bother me as much as a forced ad they didn’t put there themselves.
