@mauritius.info0: FCC Report on MTPA: Richard Duval Provides Clarity on Conclusions and Measures Taken Following the publication of the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) Executive Summary on the procedures for the tendering of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA), the Minister of Tourism, Richard Duval, and the MTPA management team are providing clarification on the circumstances that led to this exercise as well as on the corrective measures already taken. According to Richard Duval, the approach to the FCC is based on a desire to examine the internal functioning of the MTPA from the time of its inception. The goal was to identify the shortcomings that occurred under the previous regime and to prevent their recurrence, in parallel with ongoing investigations into previous cases. The new management and the MTPA board, in place since December 2025, have stated that they themselves have requested an independent evaluation from the FCC's Division of Education and Prevention. The FCC's report highlights several weaknesses in the MTPA's functioning. These include administrative and operational procedures, governance and monitoring of activities, as well as planning and organization of projects. Insufficiencies have also been identified in the tendering and contract award mechanisms. Corrective measures already taken The MTPA management team states that several reforms have been initiated even before the publication of the final FCC report. Among the measures announced is a revision of the tendering procedures, aimed at strengthening transparency, traceability, and separation of functions. The organization also states that it has published its Annual Procurement Plan, which is now available on its official website. In addition, the Audit Committee has been restructured. According to the management team, this committee has met four times since the beginning of the year to identify the necessary improvements to the internal control mechanisms. A broader overhaul is envisaged For Richard Duval, the FCC's conclusions reinforce the need for a comprehensive reform of the MTPA and the Ministry of Tourism. The minister claims to have already discussed these issues with the Prime Minister. He also specifies that another public body has been tasked with formulating proposals aimed at improving governance. Reaffirming his zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and dishonest practices, Richard Duval invites the public to familiarize themselves with the FCC's summary note. He also assures that close monitoring will be carried out regarding the implementation of reforms. #imtus #mauritius #mauritius🇲🇺 #feed #news
