oh wait I didn't notice ambessa clenching her fists after seeing the painting. it makes sense it would mean Mel rejecting her noxian values, but if ambessa understood the painting, I wonder if she was angry about the fact that Mel rejected those values, or if she was angry at herself for being the reason mel did so

And I love how the golden paint perfectly exemplifies the extent of her magic's power, almost like while she was rejecting her past she was also allowing the beauty of who she's becoming to paint it in a better light than she knew it as, because she's begun to see what Ambessa was protecting her from in her exile. In my interpretation, at least 😅

it hurts extra to see her at the end of s2 completely draped in red. like painting gold over the red sails, she asserted herself in her own life. but noxus, the black rose, ambessa, all still smothered her in the end

see but this makes me have so many questions did Mel paint over the artwork? when was it? was before or after she kidnapped? and was it before or after the explosion? was it after she heard about kino and in grief stricken rage destroyed the art or was it after she got into the rough conversation with Viktor and Jayce and realized she was losing it? was she upset? was she angry? I wanna knowwwwwww
