@opabc.app: Hit the Character before the Leader. Part 13 of OPTCG Basics. Your opponent holds 2 cards and has a Character you need gone. If you swing at their Leader first, they take the hit and the Life card goes to their hand. Now they have 3 cards to save that Character, and the card they just drew can be exactly the counter they needed. Attack their Characters first, while their hand is small. Every counter they spend there is one they can't use later. Then swing at the Leader. One more risk: their Life card can be a Trigger like Caribou, which K.O.s one of your Characters with a cost of 5 or less before it attacks. At 0 Life it's different: hit the Leader, that's the game.
