You started a home bakery… and suddenly everybody wants you to make something DIFFERENT. 😭 You sell brownies and cookies. Someone wants a three-tier wedding cake. Someone asks for 100 cupcakes. Another customer wants macarons by tomorrow. And because you’re trying to grow your business, you feel like you should say YES to everything. Here’s what I’d do instead. 👀 1️⃣ Know what your bakery specializes in. You don’t have to make every dessert just because you know how to bake it. 2️⃣ Consider the real cost of special requests. New ingredients, packaging, equipment, testing, and extra labor can quickly turn an exciting order into an expensive one. 3️⃣ Be realistic about your schedule. If you work full-time or have other commitments, that last-minute order may not be worth sacrificing your entire evening. 4️⃣ Don’t be afraid to refer customers elsewhere. If an order isn’t a good fit, recommending another baker can still leave a positive impression. 5️⃣ Build your menu intentionally. Add products because they fit your business and customers consistently want them, not because one person asked. I’ve been running Hangry Kitchen since 2021, and here’s something I’ve learned: You don’t have to be everybody’s baker to run a successful bakery. Some businesses specialize in elaborate cakes. Others focus on cookies, brownies, breads, or simple desserts. There’s room for different specialties. And sometimes saying NO to one complicated order allows you to focus on the products that make your business profitable. You can appreciate the opportunity without accepting every request. 💙 🍪 Thinking about starting or growing your home bakery? Comment BAKE 👇🏽 for my FREE home bakery guide! Bakers, have you ever been asked to make something completely outside your menu? 😂 #HomeBakery #BakingBusiness #HomeBaker #CottageBaker #BakeryTips
