Even better the grandma knew Beldam because she sacrificed her twin sister (we don’t know the relationship she had with her twin sister, but I’m guessing not a good one if she switch identities with her twin sister since an entity like the Beldam wouldn’t be able too tell the difference) , but the Beldam was starving for 50+ years after due to the grandma not giving her any children to consume so she was living off of the rats and the dogs from the basement who conveniently had button eyes in the movie in the other world. In the beginning of the movie, the one dog in the basement was slowly dying which explains the bell down being desperate for Coraline‘s consent, by the end of the movie, the dog is full of life again, but wybie being a curious kid who kept on going over to the property the grandma had to decide to sacrifice a kid and better yet a neglected child with too busy of parents I hate to say this as a black women myself but you explain to me why the grandmother would yell at her grandson to not interact with the only friend she see him interacting with as he’s “the loner/weirdo” or how the Beldam made wybie in the other world. It’s almost as if she was already preparing to take him, but in the beginning of the movie she had to freshly make Coraline.
