@meribillimenumeow: For 17 years, Sikh volunteers in Canada have dedicated their Sundays to feeding hundreds of homeless and vulnerable people, only to be hit with a $600 fine by Toronto authorities. Volunteers associated with Seva Kitchen Canada travel from Mississauga to downtown Toronto every Sunday, preparing fresh meals from as early as 3am before distributing food to over 350 people, regardless of their religion, race or background. Their work is inspired by SEVA, the Sikh principle of selfless service, helping humanity without expecting anything in return. However, during the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, city enforcement officers issued fines over alleged park permit violation which many locals have hit out saying the fine should be revoked. Despite nearly two decades of charitable work, the volunteers now find themselves facing financial penalties.

I know it seems bad decision as I also support feeding homeless but law/constitution should be above religion ,creed always 🙏 🙏

As one of the people who started this, I can assure you that we are just a bunch of Sikhs who want to feed EVERYONE no matter race, religion or background. We have never pushed religion and instead, we fed anyone walking through the park. More of a picnic type atmosphere as apposed to “feeding homeless”. Nobody should feel inferior because of their social standing and thus, we never asked questions. Just everyone breaking bread together!💕

Every day general public by comments and in general throwing insults on Sikhs, I think it’s time for them to stop doing all this charity work, just work enjoy within community, help someone poor back home in your own village, town or region. People will eat free in your event ,when there’s tummy is full, they’ll start cursing you and insulting you , they’ll call you flip flops, diaper heads etc etc , SO PLEASE STOP , help your own people first , it’s time to step back from all this. 🙏🙏
