This is not counting medical issues like genetic connective tissue disorders I'm assuming? Cause sometimes ot isn't infected user error, it's a medical issue that's affected your nails.

I got gels and they made me realise that the reason my nailpolish wasn't lasting is because my nails are too flexible, but the nails polish isn't, so my nail bends a bit, the nailpolish chips off. how I'm I supposed to change that with skill?

the thing is, mine always chip, and I've gone to profesionals to get gel and they still last a week (at most) before they get chipped. I don't wash dishes or anything like that.

I've got a connective tissue disorder that literally makes my nails very very bendy. I didn't know that until recently (the chronically ill girlies brought this phenomenon on and we all realised we have the same issues), but for me nail polish, gel, or whatever other fake nails out there never worked. My nails are soft and constantly move, bend... Each time I shower they expand and become soft which changes the shape of the nail under the polish which hence makes it chip, it makes water much easier to get under. I never had any fake nails or nail polish (record was I think 3 full days) last me more than a week. So, no not user error, at least not in every case. In some cases people just have different nails or skin, or hair etc.

it took me forever to learn 1. acetone beforehand 2. base coat THIN layer 3. a thin layer of whatever polish you use 4. a thicker coat of topcoat or 2 coats if it’s chunky

or in the case of constant and immediate chipping and peeling you could be hyper mobile. it makes your nails super bendy so polishes won't stay. my fiance has that problem and we found a builder gel overlay has made a world of difference

I haven't experienced this personally but I've heard this can also be an issue for people with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome! Apparently the collagen issues can affect the surface of our nails and make it harder to get nail polishes to stick even with proper prep and application

I've tried base coat, I tried no base coat, I did layers that Iet individually dry, I piled it on and then waited for it to dry, I used a top clear coat and I didn't use a top clear coat... but it keeps peeling and chipping 🧍♀️

if it never dries it's not. It's either bad quality or the nail polish that it's too old. If it chips yeah, it's user's fault, but also many brands sell top coats that aren't top coats. (i am solely speaking about normal nail polish that requires no uv lamp)
