The crusaders won many battles and will long be remembered as heroes, the Crusades stand as a testament to an era of profound faith, where thousands of believers answered a holy call to defend Christendom and protect the sacred places of the Levant. Motivated by devotion, these knights and pilgrims risked their lives, wealth, and titles to secure safe passage for Christians to Jerusalem—the center of the spiritual world. Through their sacrifices, they demonstrated a willingness to endure immense hardship for the sake of their beliefs, viewing their victories as direct signs of divine favor and protection. For those who marched under the sign of the cross, every triumph was a testament to the enduring power of their faith, serving as an earthly reflection of the ultimate truth that God is great, sovereign, and worthy of all honor and devotion.

The Crusaders held the city of Jerusalem for 88 years.
• Capture: July 15, 1099 (during the First Crusade)
• Loss: October 2, 1187 (surrendered to Saladin and the Ayyubid dynasty)
(Note: Crusaders briefly regained control of the city later in the 13th century—from 1229 to 1244, about 15 years—through diplomacy during the Sixth Crusade.)
