Because the history of Dagbala can be traced to the ancient Benin Kingdom: We Created This To Represent Our Roots. HISTORY OF DAGBALA: Dangbala: Oral history of the Dangbala as told in 1945 and apparently, adopted as the official origin charter, posits that its people migrated from Benin during the reign of Oba Ovonramwen. One Ogbonima was said to have fled from the wrath of the Oba when he, Ogbonima, was caught peering through a crevice at the wife of the oba who was having her bath. Ogbonima left Benin to avoid punishment. With him were his wife, one of his many sons and four grandchildren, namely Afeke, Osu, lyase and Onyenke. They were said to have migrated northwards and initially settled in the area of their present location, though in four separate groups, namely Ojutaiye, Dangbala, Ogunda and Ukpagbo. The respective groups were led each by one of Ogbonima’s grandsons. Osu and Onyenke joined with each of the other two to form Osobo and Okha at a later period. However, “regrettably, the Nupe raids (Izalomo w@r) carried away almost all of them from the isolated settlements”. 12 It took the diplomacy of one Imoike who by a gift of a buffalo to the Nupe warriors, to save Ogbonima’s ancestry. The bitter experiences associated with the Nupe raids compelled the different groups to come together as one so as to enhance unity as well as to maximise group defence and security. Thus, Dangbala was founded with all the groups coming together to live and farm. #Dagbala #AncientBenin #Ogbonema #AkokoEdo #Edo #Benin #Dagbalahistory #History #Edohistory #Akokoedohistory #okurosho #Okpameri #Okpamerihistory #edostate #Nigeria #BlackHistory #obaofbenin #obaovonramwen #1945 @Hammerboi @EDO STANDS @𝐄𝐃𝐎𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐂 @edo.odion @Great Edos
