@kingdombodycoach: After injuring my ankle twice, I’m rebuilding my lower-body strength one step at a time. In this part of my Lower Body Strength & Control series, I’m focusing on building strength and control around my knees and ankles. Here are three exercises to start with. There are plenty more, but these are a great place to begin: 1. Banded ankle presses Loop a resistance band around your foot and hold the other end securely so the band stays taut. Press your foot down toward the floor against the band, then slowly return to your starting position. Keep the movement controlled. 2. Sit-to-stands Sit on a bench or sturdy chair with both feet flat on the floor and your hands clasped in front of you. Stand up, then lower yourself back down with control. As you build strength and balance, you can progress to standing from the bench using one foot at a time. 3. Pulsing box squats Stand in front of a bench or sturdy chair. Hold a light weight if you’re comfortable, lower until you lightly tap the bench, pulse, then stand back up with control. Follow my Lower Body Strength & Control series if you’re rebuilding after an injury or working on your lower-body strength. Let’s build back together. #LowerBodyStrength #InjuryRecovery #AnkleMobility #KneeStrength #KingdomBody
