25+ year mechanic here. You need wheel bearing or wheel bearings and then have your Control alarms and inner and outer tie rod ends checked. They probably only looked at the tire wear and told you to get all of the other things done. That said all of those things will still be needed. There’s no way that you can do a proper alignment with bad wheel bearings. Chances are you will need brakes also and considering how prominent the roaring is, you’ve been driving like this for some time now so you will need to get brakes also. Hear me when I say, DO NOT PAD SLAP SHIT! FIX IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. Your brake system is a balanced system and you should balance the system every time you handle your brakes. That means you need both front and rear brakes both rotors and pads. And don’t forget the brake fluid flush. Done correctly, your brakes should last you 5-6 years with a brake fluid flush every 6-8 months with normal driving. Let me know if I can be of assistance.

Like others have said, almost certainly a wheel bearing going bad. Did you take the car in and tell them you wanted them to figure out the noise? I know we have customers come in who think an alignment will fix any sort of noise or suspension issue when really an alignment only fixes irregular tire wear and steering wheel centering (occasionally a drift or pull but not much)

This is a failure on the shop’s part. You brought the vehicle in for a specific noise, and instead of properly diagnosing it, they kept recommending services that never addressed the complaint. An alignment, new tires, and balancing later, the SAME noise is still there! A competent shop should road-test the vehicle, reproduce the concern, identify the source, and verify the repair. Customers shouldn’t have to finance a shop’s guessing game!
