Here was my thought process. If all statements are true, then the fact the mother recovered is the clue needed to determine the choice is Hell. If the daughter did indeed sell the house in secret to pay for the treatment, the only way the neighbors would find out is if someone (the surviving mother) told them. The only reason why the neighbors would then accuse the daughter of being a thief, is because the neighbors themselves paid for the treatment.
