My first winter with ducks, I went all out making them a cozy place to bunker down, well sheltered, highly insulated, etc. They didn't use it at all. They preferred being out and exposed to the elements. I still give them a decent shelter now, but I have no illusions that they will ever make use of it without me forcing them to.
