Sometimes I look out of my window at what Wild Hearts has become and I genuinely cannot believe that this is mine. ❤️ When I first started, I was just helping a few pigeons here and there. I never imagined it would grow into what it is today. I started simply out of a love for animals and this has become such a huge part of my life. I’ve trained, learned, worked hard, built connections with some wonderful vets and avian specialists and spent countless hours learning how to give these birds the best possible chance. I’ve grown my knowledge, grown my rescue and somehow grown a community of people who care about pigeons just as much as I do. What started as a passion has become something I could only ever have dreamed of. A place where vulnerable, injured and unwanted pigeons can come for safety, care and a chance at a happy life, whether that’s a return to the wild or a forever home here. There are hurdles, difficult days, moments of exhaustion and times when I’ve genuinely questioned whether I can keep it up. There have been days when I’ve thought, I just cannot be bothered with any of this anymore. Not because I’ve stopped loving the birds, but because sometimes the pressure, the negativity and everything that comes with running a rescue can feel like too much. There have also been people who’ve tried to bring me down along the way. People who have made things harder when all I’ve ever wanted to do is help pigeons. But I’m still here. And I’m not going anywhere 🙃 I’m not going to let other people’s negativity take away something I’ve worked so hard to build. I’m not going to let the hurdles make me forget why I started. And I’m not going to give up on the birds who need me. I get tired, I have days when I need to step back, but I will keep going. I will keep learning, keep growing and keep doing everything I can for these birds. This is my passion, my dream and something I believe in with my whole heart. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that sometimes you have to keep going even when other people don’t want to see you succeed. I am so incredibly proud of how far I’ve come, not because of the buildings, the aviaries or the number of followers, but because of the lives I’ve been able to help along the way. Every bird matters and every little life I’ve been able to make a difference to reminds me why I started in the first place. My only wish is that one day I could do this full time. To give Wild Hearts all the time and attention it deserves.. Maybe one day. (Manifesting winning the lottery 🤣) 🤞❤️ But for now, I just want to say thank you. To every single person who has followed this journey, whether you’ve been here from the very beginning or you’ve only just found me.
