There’s definitely a distinction here. Someone pushing you to grow while still respecting your boundaries is love. Someone hurting, controlling, or disrespecting you and calling it “pushing you to be better” is not. I feel like the wrong person could see this and use it to justify some really shitty behavior.

there’s a difference between “take care of yourself, go to gym” and “go to the gym, fatty.” The latter is definitely an attack.

it can also be narcissistic and be an excuse someone can use to give them a license to whatever tf just bc they are "pushing you to be better" . it does take some discernment to know the distinction. there isnt anything inherently wrong with the point of the video. im just sayin..

I fear there is a very fine line between wanting better for someone and controlling especially when you think you are in love with the person doing it…

If your friends don’t call you out on your shit, they want you to stay at the bottom with them. If they DO call you out on your shit, they’re telling you to wake tf up and grow. Do better. Make something of yourself and rise to the top WITH them. It’s not arrogance. It’s not pride. It’s not disrespect. It’s ACTUALLY the opposite. They respect you SO much that they’re willing to risk their friendship with you just to try and get you to see that you CAN do so much better than you are now. Not to mock, but to open your eyes.

Long time friend of mine... I want him to be successful. Unfortunately when I try to encourage him or try to guide him, he tells me how easy my life is and I'm on a high horse looking down on him. I just want him to be happy.

🫤 bs, it's controlling. 🙄 God says "come as you are" 🧐 THAT is Love. If someone is trying to force you to change, it is CONTROL, not love
