I've heard one of the Native American legends that some children (ranging from two to seven children) were wondering about/playing when suddenly a giant bear started chasing them down (in one version it's the sister of the children who becomes the bear after finding the rib bone of a buffalo). According to the legend the kids found a rock lower to the ground and climbed it to escape the bear, all the while praying to the Great Spirit for help. The spirit answered. It made the rock they stand on grow large enough to keep them out of the bears reach. and those straight rock columns were caused by the bear clawing at it trying to get to them. Some stories say the children were lifted so high they became stars in the Pleiades constellation, another one is that they were saved by eagles and I heard others say that the children are still up there to this day

It's literally just an extinct Volcano that eroded away leaving only the cooled magma chamber. And It's Bear Lodge not Devils Tower.

It is also referred to as Mato Tipila or “Bear Lodge.” There is some lore around it about indigenous girls running from a large bear, praying to creator for help and safety and the formation lifted them high up into the sky, where the girls became the 7 sisters constellation and the striations on the tower are from the bear’s claws.

actually its not a mystery at all. geologist have known what it is for quite some time now, and its not the only formation like it in this earth. what it is is the remnants of an ancient volcano. what your looking at is the actual magma chamber inside the volcano. over the eons the magma cooled and solidified forming a sort of plug. fast forward through lost of natural erosion i.e. landslides, quakes, mudslides and the icecapades and viola! you are left with just only the solidified magma chamber left standing. isnt nature neat!

There are other formations similar throughout the world. Once covered by sediment? There is Biblical lore that maybe they were trees that were cut down by angels to prevent the Nephilim (giants spoken of in the Bible) from climbing them to escape the Great Flood. Petrified giant trees?

This reminds me of the pancake rocks in NZ. They're these rocks that have formed to look like they're stacked on top of each like pancakes and they're pretty cool

So how are we saving for our kids?👇 In a traditional college savings plan like a 529, the money you save can be used for a wide range of education related expenses. This includes college and trade schools, which is great! However, if your child decides not to pursue higher education, your options become more limited. You can change the beneficiary to another family member, or, thanks to recent updates, you can roll up to $35,000 of unused funds into a Roth IRA in the child’s name (as long as certain conditions are met such as the account being open for at least 15 years). If you choose to withdraw the money for non-educational purposes, you’ll have to pay income tax on the earnings, plus a 10% penalty, which can be significant. Instead of dealing with this at all, we want to save and give our children a lump sum to start their life so they have freedom to use it for their goals. This would not be money used for vacationing or random spending, but instead we plan to sit down and come up with a strategic plan to further their career or life. Do they want to start a business? Do they want to go into the trades? Maybe they do want to go to online college or a Christian university. This allows them options! Our plan at this point is to save $200 monthly for each child in traditional CD’s with a guaranteed interest rate return. Once we have enough, we would like to buy a rental cash and use that for their funds when the time comes. Of course stipulations would apply.. if our child took a bad path in life, we would not enable them with money to make it worse.
