@cliffbuell: In July 2024, a major fire destroyed First Baptist Dallas's historic sanctuary. The 134 year old building was left badly damaged, but the church committed to rebuilding. Then Hobby Lobby founder David Green stepped forward with a $7 million matching gift. According to Pastor Robert Jeffress, a family in the church pledged another $7 million to meet the challenge. Together, those commitments brought $14 million in support for the rebuilding effort. Construction officially began in June 2026, and the church hopes to reopen the sanctuary by Easter 2028. The new building will preserve parts of the church's history while adding stained glass windows that tell the story of Scripture. A fire damaged the building, but the congregation continued its work. This is a powerful reminder that generosity can help a church rebuild and keep serving its community for generations.
