I am sick to my stomach with all the people dumping innocent dogs in my community. I have put signs all over my county offering assistance pleading people to stop dumping but they keep doing it anyways. Sir Duke was dumped in a popular dump spot on a busy curvy mountain road where many dogs have been dumped before. Many of them end up getting hit by cars and dying so I knew I had to act quickly with him. I left to go and find him immediately after I got the call this morning. Luckily I was able to find him right away and it was a smooth process getting him secured. After spending just a few moments with him, I knew that this dog was at least 12 years old and my heart just sank. Who could dump this old boy? He was so confused and sad. When I got him back to the rescue I scanned him for a chip into my surprise. He had one I was able to find the owner, but unfortunately, he did not want Duke back. He had told me that he had rehomed him years ago. He didn’t even ask how he was doing or if he was okay. A dog that he had for 10 years. My heart broke again for Duke. After spending more time with him, I noticed that Duke was in immense pain. He has a severely infected tooth that his causing him to drool excessively. And he is having a hard time walking. His paw pads are burnt and peeling from the hot asphalt. If you can help Duke please consider going to the links in our bio!
