It is a very dangerous to erase this part of history. It serves as a warning to the world. Getting rid of it will also erase the truth

Been a couple of times myself and this is so tragic to see history burn like this.

“if you erase history, you’re doomed to repeat it” we didn’t learn about this in hs, we learned the very bare minimum about ww2. maybe we fix that first before we grieve a building that monsters called home. And how dystopian is it that it was a restaurant? I couldn’t possibly have an appetite while in a place like that.

I’ve visited there. It’s a beautiful view, but it’s also an amazing piece of World War II history. It’s tragic that it’s now been lost to arson.

we should not be celebrating the destruction of history just because its a particular unsettling part of our history human history is full of parts wed rather not thi k about but we need to because its important so we dont repeat our past mistakes

I had the opportunity to travel there in 2019 with a World War Two veteran who served with the 101st Airborne and was stationed there at the end of the war after he saw combat in Normandy during D-Day, Operation Market Garden and the Battle of the Bulge. The views are surreal, but the energy was definitely heavy there. I took this photo of him during that visit.

You didn't mention the beautiful brass walled elevator with crushed red velvet seat cushions that lined the wall. This place was beautiful, despite it's horrible origins. So sad
