@scopeapl: Seven Apple stores across France are closed today as the country braces for more demonstrations. This follows incidents last week where looters targeted two Apple locations. Affected stores include all three Paris sites: Champs-Élysées, Opéra, and Marché Saint-Germain, along with Bordeaux Sainte-Catherine, Lille, Strasbourg, and Aix-en-Provence. These street-level stores are likely closed as a precaution to protect staff and property. Apple stores within shopping malls are expected to operate as usual. Last week, Apple's Lille and Bordeaux stores were looted during unrest on October 17. The protests, driven by rising living costs and poor school conditions, saw hundreds of thousands demonstrate peacefully, though violence and looting did occur in some cities. Following the looting, reports surfaced of stolen iPhones displaying warnings that they were disabled and being tracked, with instructions to return them. A video from Le Signal reportedly showed this message. Most closed stores, including the three Paris locations, Bordeaux Sainte-Catherine, and Aix-en-Provence, are scheduled to reopen Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. However, the Lille and Strasbourg stores will remain closed Sunday, reopening Monday. @apple
