‼️BREAKING‼️ALYSSA CIGARROA SKIPS ANOTHER MAYORAL DEBATE AFTER ROCKY FORUM PERFORMANCES‼️ LAREDO, TX - Mayoral candidate and District 8 Councilmember Alyssa Cigarroa was absent from another mayoral debate Friday, adding another missed forum to a campaign that has faced scrutiny from her performances when appearing alongside her opponents. The latest debate was hosted by 107.3. Cigarroa’s absence comes after a campaign trail that has alternated between appearing and sitting out opportunities to face her opponents directly. Cigarroa participated in the Laredo Chamber of Commerce mayoral forum earlier this month. Viewers characterized her performance as rocky, including moments of halting delivery and difficulty getting through portions of her answers. She then skipped the City of Laredo’s Oct. 8 mayoral forum. Mayor Dr. Victor D. Treviño, Alfonso “Poncho” Casso and JD Gonzalez participated, while the City’s Public Information Office said Cigarroa had a prior engagement. Cigarroa returned to the stage Oct. 14 for the TAMIU Student Government Association mayoral debate alongside Treviño, Casso and Gonzalez. Again, viewers observed difficulties during portions of Cigarroa’s TAMIU performance. At one point, TAMIU’s SGA specifically offered Cigarroa an opportunity to respond to Casso during an exchange and Cigarroa declined. Now, with early voting already underway and Election Day approaching, Cigarroa has missed another opportunity to appear alongside her opponents. The pattern leaves voters with two different things to evaluate: the policies candidates present and how willing and able they are to defend those positions in real-time exchanges. That matters for whoever becomes Laredo’s next mayor. The position regularly requires dealing with City Council disagreements, public criticism and officials at the county, state and federal levels, while representing an international border city whose decisions can directly involve neighboring Mexico. #fyp #fypシ #laredo #laredotx #texas
